Signs please

By clairefowler

Another example of this came in last month. ELF had an enquiry from a local resident experiencing on-going problems concerning a public footpath, used for years by locals as a safe passage, now being used by cyclists creating an increasingly dangerous situation for pedestrians. Road way signs prohibiting cyclists have fallen into disrepair and are no longer displayed. When our enquirer approached the local authority they said they couldn’t afford to erect new signs. Whilst this seems at first glance to be a small matter, in reality the impact on the local community, the elderly, people with small children is significant. One would have thought that a relatively small sum to be expended on new highway signs would be an easy win for the local authority. ELF is assisting.
